Scientists measure a deceased dolphin on a table in a laboratory setting

OAI’s work with NOAA’s Southwest Fisheries Science Center was recently featured in the Columbia Basin Bulletin in connection with an ongoing domoic acid event off the California coast. This naturally occurring toxin is creating hazardous conditions for marine mammals, resulting in an uptick in strandings.

Our dedicated employees contribute to NOAA’s stranding response efforts by assisting with animal collection and conducting necropsies to better understand the impacts.
